Charbel is a recent PhD graduate (April, 2025) and early-career researcher in ancient languages. His research interests and publication record covers topics in computational linguistics and Digital Humanities, cross-cultural pragmatics and syntactic theory with a focus on Semitic and Austronesian language families. He is currently a Sessional Academic at The Australian National University and Honorary Post-doctoral Research Associate with the International Syriac Language Project at the University of Divinity. He recently concluded the Swenson Family Fellowship in Eastern Christian Manuscript Studies for Junior Scholars with Hill Museum and Manuscript Library at St. John’s University in Minnesota, United States, sponsored by the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
