Dr Christopher Morris is Head of the Department of Pastoral and Spiritual Studies and lecturer in Spirituality at the Catholic Theological College. He is also a spiritual director and has been a Religious Education leader in Catholic Education.
Christopher’s doctoral research developed the work of the Camaldolese Benedictine Bruno Barnhart, focusing on the notion of ‘wisdom knowing’ and practical ways to cultivate wholeness. He has presented a number of papers on Christian wisdom including the organization of an international symposium, “Towards the Rebirth of Wisdom: A Christian Conversation.”
His research interests include methodology in the study of Christian spirituality; wisdom and wholeness; contemplative perspectives and meditation; and formation for ministry. He teaches units in Christian Spirituality; Teaching Meditation and Prayer; Meditation in the Christian Tradition; and Meditation and Wholeness. He has also had extensive experience in curriculum development including the course design of the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Meditation and recently the unit: Pastoral Leadership for a Safe Church.
Christopher regularly gives seminars and retreats in spirituality, contemplative approaches and meditation in education, health, and parish settings.
