Laurence McNamara after graduate studies began his role as lecturer in Moral Theology in 1978 in Adelaide, then in Sydney and currently in Melbourne.
Since the 1990s his research and teaching focus has been on the meaning of human ageing with special reference to the theology, spirituality, pastoral care, and ethics of ageing.
Currently he teaches in the Graduate Certificate in Human Ageing.
He is leading the Human Ageing Project for the University of Divinity and is establishing a Centre for Human Ageing at Catholic Theological College.
