Paul is Marist Brother who has been primarily a secondary Education teacher and Administrator. He worked in Marist schools in Queensland, NSW, and the ACT in various leadership roles with his last school role being Principal at St Teresa’s Catholic College at Noosaville, Queensland, before leaving to complete his doctoral studies in John’s Gospel at KU Leuven in Belgium.
Paul has a Science degree from Macquarie University majoring in Physics and Chemistry, a Graduate Diploma in Education, a Graduate Diploma in Religious Education, a Master of Education, and a Master of Arts in Theology. He has recently completed a Bachelor and Licentiate in Sacred Theology, a Research Masters in Theology, the Doctor of Philosophy and the Doctorate in Sacred Theology from KU Leuven in Belgium. His Research Masters Project was on the notion of grace in the writings of Pope Francis, and his doctoral project was on the resurrection-event in John’s Gospel.
Paul’s main research area has been in John’s Gospel with a particular focus on the burial, empty tomb and appearance narratives in John and the implications of these narratives for Johannine theology. He also has an interest in Johannine spirituality, anthropology, and eschatology. Paul is a member of both SBL and EABS. He has participated in a number of conferences particularly the European Association of Biblical Scholars and has recently been accepted into the Fellowship of Biblical Scholars in Australia.
A teacher in secondary school for over 30 years, Paul has a particular interest in engaging with staff and students in relation to understanding the Scriptures and their importance in developing one’s own unique faith journey. He is presently the Coordinator of the GCTRE Program at CTC, as well as being a lecturer in John’s Gospel at YTU.
Paul is an active participant in his local parish wherever he has been assigned. In Belgium, he attended the International Student’s Group at Justus Lipsis College. In Melbourne he is a member of the All Saints Catholic Parish at Fitzroy. While at Leuven, in Belgium, He was an elected member of the KU Leuven Doctoral Committee representing Biblical Studies, and also elected Secretary of the International Students Theology Association. Paul is a Life member of Australian School Sport, and a Justice of the Peace in Queensland.
