Tania Nelson is the Executive Officer – Local Mission for the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ). As executive officer, she oversees and provides strategic direction for five mission-focused ministries of the LCANZ – Care Ministries, Cross-Cultural Ministry, Grow Ministries, Lutheran Media, and New & Renewing Churches.
Tania has undertaken studies in education and in theology/ministry. Her doctoral thesis explored the contribution of principals and pastors to the mission of Lutheran primary schools. The Challenge of Missional Renewal (2022) is a compilation of her essays and papers.
Tania’s research interests include individual and corporate responses to God’s mission, as well as the burgeoning field of digital theology.
She teaches Introduction to Christian Mission at Australian Lutheran College and Missional Discipleship through the Melbourne School of Theology.
Tania is a consultant to the General Church Board of the Lutheran Church as well as a consultant to the Church’s Committee for International Mission. She also serves as a pastoral assistant in her local congregation in Adelaide.
