Tim is the Executive Officer of Mission and Leadership Development for the Uniting Church in South Australia, which incorporates Uniting College for Leadership and Theology, a college of the University of Divinity. He is also the Minister at Malvern Uniting Church.
Tim has served in a number of diverse ministry and teaching roles over the past 25 years. He commenced vocational ministry in the Values for Life schools program at Concern Australia and as an intern with St Martin Community Church, Collingwood, living in shared community. He then moved to become Co-ordinator of the Year in the Son discipleship program at Tabor (now Eastern) College for three years, before relocating to become Young Adults Pastor at Hope Valley Uniting Church. In 2008, he lead a team to plant a new church, CitySoul, seeking to reach people living, working and studying in the Adelaide CBD. He was ordained in 2018, and then after five years was appointed Director of Discipleship at Uniting College for Leadership and Theology, later becoming Vice-Principal. In 2019, he was appointed Minister at Malvern Uniting Church alongside his wife Priscilla. He continues to serve there, relishing congregational ministry and mission. In 2022, he also took on the role of EO of the Mission and Leadership Development ministry centre in the Uniting Church in South Australia. He finds great fulfillment in the mix of practical and academic ministry.
He has a Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Ministry, and is currently completed a PhD thesis exploring pneumatology in the Basis of Union of the Uniting Church in Australia. He has been a participant in Arrow Leadership Australia, Forge Mission Training Network and Executive Leaders Program in the Uniting Church. He is also a Graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course.
He is the author of Understanding Sexual Abuse: A Guide for Ministry Leaders & Survivors (IVP). He has also written for Christianity Today, Zadok, Alive Magazine, and Australian Leadership.
Tim also co-hosts The Unmade Podcast with Brady Haran, and is the regular ‘Thursday Theologian’ on Life FM. He loves music, particularly that of Nick Cave, surfing, and has recently become a bit obsessive about tennis.
